A study from CNR-IMM and Università di Bologna shows a relation between circular codes, which allow to read sequences of words without explicit separators, and protein coding sequences. This connection sheds light on universal properties of coding sequences that are, in turn, correlated with protein synthesis efficiency. The results obtained by Diego Luis Gonzalez (CNR-IMM), Simone Giannerini (UniBo), Greta Goracci (UniBo) and Alberto Danielli (UniBo) may lead to improved tools for sequence indicators and sequence optimization in bioinformatics and biotechnological applications.
