She is Research scientist at national research council CNR, since January 2001.
She pursued fundamental study of quantum tunneling effect in superconducting materials and the correlated radiation/particle interaction as well as applications of superconducting tunneling sensor to nuclear physics and astrophysics. Her current research focuses on the design and fabrication of optical responsive nanostructure based on quantum-mechanics properties of materials, like superconductors and magnetic materials, especially applied to photodetectors, nanophotonics and plasmonics for custom devices like Lab-on-Fiber devices.
June 1991 - Master in Physics cum laudae, at Università degli Studi di Napoli “Federico II”, Dissertation: Design of a superconducting tunnel junction detector for X-ray spectroscopy , Supervisors: Prof. A. Barone and Dr. U. Scotti di Uccio, Physics Department, Faculty of Engineering Università degli Studi di Napoli,“Federico II”.
1991- 1994 - Research Fellow at CNR under Progetto Finalizzato Tecnologie Superconduttive e Criogeniche , at Istituto di Cibernetica“ E. Caianiello”, worked with Prof. A. Barone and Dr. R. Cristiano in collaboration with Electro Technical Laboratory (ETL), Tsukuba, Japan , worked with Prof. S.Takada. Developed design and fabrication of X-Ray detector based on Superconductive Tunnel Junction and custom instrumentation for device testing.
1994- 1996 - Visiting Scientist at Oxford University (UK), Team Leader of The Microfabrication Division of the Superconductive Low Temperature Detectors Group, at the Nuclear & Astrophysics Laboratory, with Prof. N.E. Booth. Developed Dark Matter detectors based on Al Series Superconducting Tunnel Junctions. Design of devices and their fabrication using shadow masks and also 4 layers photolithography processes. Measurements at cryogenic temperatures with the use of laser and radioactive sources.
1997-1999 – staff researcher at INAF (National Institut for Astrophysics) Osservatorio Astronomico di Capodimonte, director Prof. M. Capaccioli on the project ''The next generation of Astronomical Detectors: 3d-Superconducting Tunnel Junction Detectors''. Developed particle/radiation detectors based on Superconducting Tunnel Junctions. Worked on all areas of device development. Developed shielding and filtering system to eliminate electromagnetic interference on a dilution refrigerator for macroscopic quantum experiment on superconducting device.
1999-2000 research contract with INFM (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica della Materia) on the project Josephson tunnel current detector: test feasibility, director Prof. A.Barone.
2001-2005 Scientific Coordinator of Cryogenics facility for development of Particle & Radiation Detectors and Macroscopic Quantum Coherence based on superconducting devices, at CNR- Istituto di Cibernetica
Since 2005 – Scientific Coordinator of Scanning Electron Beam Lithography laboratory (SEBL) funded by CrdC Centro di Competenza Regione Campania, by the EU, the lab is devoted to the project and fabrication of micro and nano-device through top-down technologies.
