Grafting of polymers  onto a substrate is a widely applied technology to modify properties of a surface in quite simple way taking advange of the self limiting nature of the grafting to proces. In this work we propose a new vision of the grafting to mechanism implying that the self-limiting nature of this process derives from a mechanochemical control of the reaction rather than from diffusion/penetration effects. See our results in a paper just accepted  in Macromolecules .
