Description: 
Porous silicon derived nanoparticles with high brilliance and stability are surface modified by a simple hydrosilylation procedure. The resulting chemically passivated nano-powder is still photoluminescent and could be properly functionalized with bioprobes for combined biological in vivo and in vitro experiments, such as imaging applications together with drug delivery.
