Falls in the elderly have been recognized worldwide as a major public health problem. Nevertheless, falls cannot be detected efficiently yet, due to open issues on both sensing and processing sides. This study aims to fill these gaps by combining a UWB radar sensing approach with a very promising processing methodology based on novelty detection. The experimental results confirm the soundness of the presented approach, also in comparison with more traditional fall-detection solutions.
