PLAST_ICs is a project by Distretto Tecnologico Micro and Nano Sistemi Sicilia S.c.a.r.l. (Sicily Technologic District Micro and Nano systems) sponsored by MIUR (Ministero Istruzione Università e Ricerca) with PON R&C (Programma Operativo Nazionale “Ricerca e Competitività” 2007-2013) funds.

Its goal is to design and development of components, fabrication process and demonstrators of ‘Smart Disposable’ Systems on Foils combining the Unique properties of Plastic materials, with Thin Silicon ICs as enabling technology for High Added Value applications in emerging sectors of:

• Sensor devices and autonomous systems for Ambient Intelligence and Internet of Things
• Personalized diagnostics for Healthcare
• Monitoring and traceability of perishable goods e.g. in Agro-Food products
