This Special Collection is devoted to the exciting topic of gas sensing. The research in the field of gas sensors is always effervescent and challenging. It renews itself continuously according to the advances in the synthesis and deposition of novel gas-sensing nanomaterials. Moreover, innovative technological solutions offered by Micro & Nanotechnology provide novel functional microfabricated platforms for sensors array and manipulation of sensitive material in atomic and molecular scales. Such advances open up opportunities to develop sensors and gas sensing microsystems based on nanomaterials with enhanced properties (high detectivity, specificity, low-power consumption, multifunctionality, and miniaturized size).
Major interests driving the gas sensors market across the world are environment pollution control, air quality analysis, food safety and quality, industrial safety, healthcare and biomedics, breath analysis and recent volatilomics. This market will grow very fast in the coming years since gas & VOCs sensors are expected to be integrated into smartphones and wearables, hence entering the Internet-of-Things (IoT) world.
This Special Collection on gas sensors aims to cover aspects such as the preparation/deposition/characterization of gas-sensing nanomaterials, the development of MEMS/NEMS platforms for gas-sensing jointly to the nanomaterial integration, the gas-sensing principles, electronic noses, and the development of devices targeted to real applications.
Researchers working on gas sensors are invited to submit their original research studies to this Special Collection.
