Structural and morphological characterization of materials by means of scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning transmission electron microscopy and related techniques. Compositional characterization of materials by means of time- and space-resolved Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy. These techniques and methodologies have been applied to the study of different materials systems such as thin films, low dimensional materials (quantum wires, wells, dots), nanoparticles, Recently an activity on the characterization of TMD and graphene-like materials has been carried out.
1987: Graduated in Physics (Lecce, Italy); 1991: Visiting scientist at the High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy Facility of Arizona State University (Phoenix, Arizona, USA) in the group of Prof. Ray W. Carpenter; 1992: Employed as a research scientist at the High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy Facility of Arizona State University (Phoenix, Arizona, USA): 1998: Research Scientist at CNR-IMM (then IMM) (Lecce, Italy); 2007 Senior Research Scientist at CNR-IMM (then IMM) (Lecce, Italy): from 2015 Visiting Scientist at the Materials Science and Engineering Department of the University of texas at Dallas.
